'Mika Ninagawa is Japan's most popular photographer. Her photographic style is one that is instantly identified by her versatile style and the drawing from various fields. Her work is highly acclaimed across the generations from teen fashion magazines to high-end commercial fashion and advertising.'

First time I came across Mika Ninagawa's work was when I was in a bookstore called Page-One in Hong Kong. All those vivid colours captured my eyes straight away, and I completely fell in love with all her photographs! The gold fish series is particularly my favourite~ She has such an eye for colours! The way she exagerrate all the colours in her photographs, almost as if they are sizzling hot.

Also, I notice lots of Artists from the East and tropical places tend to have more vibrant intense colours in their work while artists from around here- England tend to stick to earthy tone, natural shades. Even in the fashion world~ What do you think??!

Before anyone questions, no these are not real skull but they are all hand-made, hand beaded on a layer of wax and all patterns are completely unique.

All these exquisite skulls are a special collection created by LN.CC collaborated with the Huichol people of Mexico.

'The Huichol people believe in the power of the Sun God, ancestor spirits and the four principle deities - Deer, Corn, Peyote and the Eagle. They live in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Western Mexico and habe a long history of creating beaded art. These unique beaded skulls are not only part of a limited collection, but remain a treasured piece of Huichol culture.'

I doubt I would/could afford to buy one of these skulls, but they are beautiful inspirations, showcasing intricate craftsmanship and million ideas of what tiny little seed beads could do~ I love them nevertheless.

At least these skulls are more affordable then Damien Hirst diamond skulls? :s

Singaporean designers Hans Tan, creator of these stunning ceramics called Spotted Nyonya .

'Nyonya porcelain vessels (traditional domestic wares native to Chinese-Peranakans in South East Asia) are subjected to a surface treatment which overlays the original multicoloured pattern with a new dotted pattern. The technique is an industrial re-interpretation of the traditional resist-dyeing technique used to dye fabric patterns - a masked pattern is sandblasted so that areas protected by the mask are preserved, while the original glaze from unprotected areas are erased to expose the white porcelain beneath. Available only in a very limited quantity as each piece is hand-made by the artist.'

Simple yet so effective, given an old a complete modern makeover~ I Like it. :)

Jirka - A Finnish graphic designer from Bournemouth, started this realistic Disney princess characters series for entertainment, since then, he grew rather popular over the net~ These are absolutely stunning, he captured each princess's character and expression perfectly, Alice curiosity, Pocahontas's wildness, Jasmine's elegant and Arie's playfulness, they are all spot on!

I tried Very hard to just pick afew to show, but they are all just so good!!!! >.< I love them all~~ everyone should check his work out!! So far, my favourites are Ariel, Sleeping Beauty, Jasmine, Pocahontas, Mulan and Alice~ xD what about you???

Just a few days ago, I paid a little visit into H&M, browsing any further reduction goodies for under £10~ Normally, I don't paid attention to clothes stores makeup, apart from Topshop..... :P but the colours of H&M's nail polishes caught my eyes! They are all bright, very trendy colours~ just as pretty as Barry M one, and they are only £2.99, so I thought I might give they a try.

Surprise surprise! I LOVVVVVVE it!! :D Only take two coats, it's the third day I have had it on now, I have showered, shampoo-ed my hair, cleaned, tided, played with the cat and it still hasn't chipped~ so far so good, I am completely in love with this jewel green colour as well, usual this colour tone polish have a blue shimmer in it that give out a 'mermaid' effect, personally I find that very tacky but this polish is pure green and that's what I love about it, very modern, I am definitely going back to get more colours! :P

TK Max has been well known for selling odd brands of all sort for as least half of the price~ but recently, I noticed they have imported beauty products and makeup too! brands from Stila to NYX, obviously they won't have the whole range of products for you to choose from, but once in awhile you do find some really good deals~ Here are mine! :

The Balm blusher/eyeshadow : Only £4.99 each

This has become one of my favourite blusher, peachy tone with gold shimmer~ as SLEEK gold rose blusher always out of stock and I doubt I would spent as much on makeup to buy NARS Orgasm, this is the perfect dupe for both of those!

This is a great matte bronzer, it's actually brown rather than orange! Sometime, I use it to contour too~ but you have to be light handed as it can be quite pigmented.

Pixi eye shadow palette : Only £2.99

I absolutely LOVE how compacted this palette is! slick and cute at the same time, perfect for travelling, sleeping over all those jazz and very handbag friendly~

And inside this thinnest, most compacted palette I have ever come across is 8 neutural eyeshadows~ they can be wear sheer or wet them for a more intense evening look, I have tested them out the last few days, they aren't the most pigmented product I have used but they are buildable and blend lovvvely, it's only £2.99! I am not going to complain about it, it's a MUST HAVE in everyone's makeup bag!

Bahoma Perfume Body Cream : £12.99

This is a brand I've never heard of and Normally, I wouldn't spend over £10 on body lotion, but I think the word 'London', 'Perfume Body Cream' and the phrase ' The philosophy of Fragrance', the slick packaging had sold it to me. Also the fact that the original price is £41.95!! reduced down to £12.99 is a completely bargain!

Product contains in a rather large and heavy square glass tub, very elegant looking, make me think of something Dita Von Teese would own. The product itself smells absolutely Divineeee!! like an expensive perfume for sure, the texture is super soft and smooth. I only use it on special occassions or days I need something to make myself feel good~ I wish I have bought another tub just in case I ran out! I hope TK Max will stock them again~~

So I suppose this is like my TK Max haul, I love abit of bargain, specially things you know not everybody will have one! So people, have a peek at your local TK Max every now and then~ you might be suprise at what you'd find!

Time to start working again~~ I don't think mentioned this before, but I just had another exhibition of my degree work with LACi ( the Lancashire Arts & Crafts Initiative ) in a small town called Ciltheroe.

Sadly this exhibition ended this week. Sooo... so far, I have done 3 exhibitions and I am not sure if I would be exhibiting again anytime soon :( but exciting news hasn't end yet!! I am about to open my very own 'Vespertine Cosmos' shop in UK Liverpool near town center very soon~~:D more like in less than 2 weeks!! And in there, I will be selling all hand-craft, one of a kind goodies made by myself and afew of my friends ~ :)

How to do it :

you will need :

base coat polish

top coat polish

blue nail polish

a tub of glittery

a piece of wasted paper with a middle crease line

or one of your Xmas card!

a small dry brush

1. Apply base coat. I used (Rimmel - stronger double duty base coat)

2. Apply first coat of your chose of blue nail polish then wait for it to dry. I used (2true shade.14)

3. Open the lid of the glitter carefully so it's ready to be use and place a small dry brush next to it for easy access as applicator, place both on a piece of wasted paper/card.

4. This is the tricky part, apply a thick layer of blue nail polish on one finger first, then dip the dry brush into the tub of glitter, tap the glitter off gently above that one finger before the nail polish dry off, you can tap of as much and as less glitter on your nail as you like. Repeat this to all your nails.

{a little trick : the further you place the brush from your nail, the less glitter fall on it. the closer you place the brush above your nail, the more glitter cover your nail}

5. Apply 2 thick layers of clear top coat to make sure it covered up all the glitter then voila!

6. When all you nails are completely dried off then it's time to clean up~ all you need to do is use the small brush to brush all the excess glitter into the middle of the paper/card, then gently pour it back into the tub, a little tap on the paper/card helps the glitter to glide down better, then tap of the rest on the brush back into the tub. Done and dusted! glitter didn't go everywhere~ as long as you didn't cough or sneeze during the whole process! ;P

I have had a busy weekend~ and on Sunday, I have attended the Great Northern Contemporary Craft Fair

I have attended the last year one as well~ Nontheless, all the artist's work were spectacular and I got highly inspired, I can't help but feeling slightly negative about this year.....

Seeing fellow artists/students that were in New Designers with me getting selected here, knowing I could have been one of the exhibitor that inspire others rather than the one that walked around for inspiration created a lump in my throat. It could have been Meeee!!! If I settled with what I can do best rather than challenged myself, if I creat something Everybody like rather than something I would like, if I willing to be un-orginally, stick to something people are famliar with and being done over million times, That would have been sooo ME. A True Love Story

This has NOTHING to do with art nor fashion but i wish to share this with all chinese reader~ This is a Real love story, better than Notebook or any romantic films~ because this is the real thing, if this can happen, anything can happen :}

法國女子傾慕中國男子55年未嫁雙雙八旬後結婚

兩人50多年前舊照。

兩人50多年前合影。

50多年過去，再相逢，他們都已白髮蒼蒼。

這是一對結婚不久的新人，但他們卻都白髮蒼蒼，新郎82歲，新娘83歲。　　他們一個眼睛不好，一個耳朵不靈，但“他是她的眼睛，她是他的耳朵。他倆共用一副器官”。
他倆不是黃昏戀，他們相知相戀於風華正茂時候，卻不得不分離半個多世紀，跨洋相望相思，直到5個月前的一封信，讓她從法國裡昂飛奔到中國廈門，與他重續50多年前的情緣。
她說自己收到那封信時，奔到院子裡，呆坐了很久很久……
她說：“我一直未嫁，裡昂第三大學的學生和同事都不相信我沒有人追，可是我跟他們說：‘我這輩子只有一個人愛過我，他一直住在我心裏。’”
這個人就是寫信的人，曾經是她的學生，如今是她的丈夫。
新郎是廈門人，叫袁迪寶，新娘是法國人，叫李丹妮，他們把家安在了廈門。
有人說他們的愛情是廈門版的《山楂樹之戀》；還有人說，與他們相比，《山楂樹之戀》是小巫了。

相知相愛於西湖畔
1953年，鼓浪嶼鷄山路1號，25歲的袁迪寶與黃秀雪舉行了婚禮。一個月後，袁迪寶趕赴杭州的浙江醫學院讀書。
在學校裡，也許是因為每次俄文成績都拿滿分，袁迪寶引起了俄文老師李丹妮的注意。
李丹妮的父親是浙江美院教授，母親是法國人。丹妮在北京出生，畢業於浙大中文系，精通法、英、俄、中文的她，被浙江醫學院聘為俄文老師。混血兒的美貌和聰明，在她身上顯露無遺。
一個飄着雪花的早晨，坐在教室裡的袁迪寶凍得瑟瑟發抖。下課後，丹妮悄悄遞給他一個紙包。袁迪寶打開一看，是一件藍色毛衣。暖意和愛意，將寒冷擋在了窗外和心外……

無奈分離半個世紀
然而，兩人相知相愛卻無法相戀相守。
有一天，袁迪寶鼓起勇氣，把自己已婚的事實告訴丹妮。雖然極其痛苦，但丹妮仍希望袁迪寶能跟她一起去法國，只是袁迪寶不忍拋棄髮妻。
1955年，袁迪寶所在的衛生系被合併到華西醫科大學，他只能隨學校去成都。分別時，丹妮剪下一縷金髮，脫下戒指，交給袁迪寶。1956年4月，丹妮隨父母回到法國。兩人這一別，就是半個多世紀。
一開始，他們仍舊以書信頻頻往來。
但文革開始，兩人的信全被退回了原處。有朋友告訴丹妮，再給袁迪寶寫信會害了他，從此，書信也中斷了。袁迪寶的姐姐也將丹妮的信連同丹妮的金髮、戒指都小心燒毀。
音訊全無，兩人的情意只能存心間。
這頭，袁迪寶只能以每次出差杭州必到丹妮的舊居前徘徊來寄托思念；那頭，丹妮頻頻看舊信並虔誠禱告來排解感情。他們都以為，這段緣分已了……

遲到的信重續情緣
多年以後，袁迪寶的髮妻離世了，而在法國的李丹妮也一直未婚，只是失去聯繫多年，他們的心中都住着彼此，卻都不知道心中的“她/他”是否還在世，直到2010年。
“今年春節表哥來拜年，說起：‘舅舅年輕時是個大帥哥，在杭州讀書時還差點娶了個外國老師呢……”袁老的三兒媳歐陽告訴記者，“我向公公求證，果然有這回事！我勸他說：‘為什麼不再寫信給丹妮，以前你怕媽媽傷心，現在她都去世十幾年了’。我公公終於行動了，他花了幾個晚上，寫了相同內容的5封信，寄向曾經熟悉的地址。”
5月1日，袁迪寶雙手顫顫巍巍地接過第一封法國回信，裏面是3張寫得密密麻麻的信紙，夾着一張彩照。袁迪寶端詳着照片上的人，再看看那熟悉的中文筆跡，不禁老淚縱橫……

白髮牽手共度余生
“之後，我們開始重新書信往來，有一次我告訴他，我每天會與修女們見面，我打算最後到修女那兒終老。‘終老’這個詞讓他很心痛，他就讓我到廈門，跟他團聚。”丹妮說著，手被迪寶緊緊握着。
2010年9月18日，廈門高崎機場，袁迪寶捧着55朵玫瑰，他的三個兒子各捧着一束鮮花，在國際到達廳翹首張望。
走向出口的丹妮心情緊張激動，她不斷問陪同的歐陽：“我第一句話該說什麼呢？”話未落音，兩位耄耋老人便相擁在了一起……
9月21日，他倆走進了廈門市民政局，辦理了結婚登記。
9月26日，兒子兒媳們以及孫子們為二老舉辦了隆重的婚禮。
今天，丹妮還覺得像作了一場夢，她說：“我忽然又有了一個家！感覺非常非常好！兒子兒媳們都對我非常好！”
在裡昂，中法事務協會獻給丹妮80歲生日的《混血兒》(由丹妮口述，一位記者筆錄)一書已經出版。書裡記錄了丹妮一家的中國傳奇，對於丹妮的中國之戀，只是一筆帶過。如今，丹妮和袁迪寶有一個心願，不僅把書翻成中文，而且把他倆的這段故事寫進去。

親愛的丹妮：接到你的信我激動萬分，認為這是一個奇跡……我倒在床上，求上帝給我啟示，最後想到了，50多年前上帝叫我來認識你，是要我來愛你的。離別50多年後，再讓我們相見也是要我來愛你的……

你給我的，我都保留到今天
親愛的迪寶：你的來信收到不少天了，沒有及時回信的原因很簡單，我反復不停地看，一遍一遍地看，就怕忘了重要的某件往事，信難以釋手，而且想得很多很多……兩年來，因為常生病，我開始整理東西了，特別是書信和照片。你給我的，我都保留到今天。

我的兒、媳、孫會把你當媽媽、奶奶尊敬的
親愛的丹妮：接到你的來信後，我日夜思念着你，只有默默唱歌，紓解心結。你獨身至今，信物也留存至今，請原諒我的負罪感，我們要重生。如果你願意，來廈後我們可以到民政局辦理結婚登記……你來和我們同住，我的兒、媳、孫一定會把你當媽媽、奶奶尊敬的。

你是真正愛過我的人，正如我真正愛過你
親愛的迪寶：你寄來的照片放在我書桌上，不論我在做什麼，我不時都會過來看那張照片，你的微笑沒變，還是那麼甜蜜，你第一次來上課也是這個微笑……雖然50多年沒見面，沒有聊了，今天通過文字，感覺面前的你還是當年的你。你那封信我看了後，成千成萬的音調、詩句、色彩湧出心頭，這種美感我早以為是不可能再出現在我的余生裡。深夜了，我坐下朝天看月亮和星星，我朝天看莫不是想看到你嗎？我深知你是真正愛過我的人，正如我真正愛過你一樣。

我不能讓你孤單一人住在外面
親愛的丹妮：《one day when we were young》是我最愛聽最愛唱的歌，離別50年每唱這首歌，想念杭州時美好的時光，幸福感充滿我心。但唱着唱着總會産生心碎、腸斷、淚欲流的感覺。我要你來廈與我同住的原因是因為我現在生活很幸福，我不能讓你孤單一人住在外面。
